Open Call for GIVpower Delegates

GIVpower delegates are leaders in ensuring the best Giveth projects shine! When GIV holders stake GIV in the GIVfarm, they get GIVpower in addition to earning a yield. GIVpower is a non-transferable ERC-20 token that will be used to signal support for verified projects on giveth.io. The Giveth projects with the most GIVpower behind them will get additional benefits on the platform, including extra GIVbacks for their donors and, eventually, matching funds.

GIV stakers who get GIVpower can choose to use their GIVpower to support projects, or delegate their GIVpower (voting power) to a representative. These representatives are called “GIVpower delegates”.

This is an open call for GIVpower delegates who are ready to:

  • Support amazing public goods projects - without donating
  • Represent a community of value-aligned GIV holders
  • Be on the forefront of experimentation with web3 and DAO technology to transform the way society builds and funds public goods.

What do delegates do?

Delegates use GIVpower on behalf of their constituents to “boost” projects on Giveth that are in alignment with their values. This helps improve the projects’ “rankings”. Future donors to top-ranked projects will get bigger rewards from our GIVbacks program, so delegates have a say in which projects offer the most incentives o new donors!

How do I get GIVpower?

GIV holders get GIVpower (and earn a yield!) when they stake GIV in the GIVfarm. You can increase your GIVpower (and your APR!) by “locking” your GIV for your chosen number of GIVbacks rounds, thereby getting a rewards “multiplier”.

Note: When you stake your GIV in the GIVfarm, you also get gGIV which can be used to vote on proposals in the GIVgarden.

Here’s an overview of how to use your GIV to get GIVpower and gGIV and multiply your rewards (h/t @Mitch & @rodri_castillo):

What kind of delegates are we looking for?

We are looking for passionate people interested in supporting public goods projects with novel web3 technology. Experience in the nonprofit space, public goods space, or on-the-ground projects is very helpful. Bonus if you also have Web3 experience or experience with DAOs or public goods communities like Commons Stack, Gitcoin, Optimism, etc. (helpful but not critical).

Nominating

Anyone who has an Ethereum address on Gnosis Chain and holds GIV tokens is invited to create a new topic in the GIVpower Delegation category with their self-nomination as a GIVpower Delegate!

To nominate yourself you must provide the following information:

  • Your name (or how you want to be called).
  • Your Discord handle.
  • Your Ethereum Address on Gnosis Chain. (If you’re not sure what that is, watch this tutorial here)
  • Why should people choose you as a delegate for GIVpower?
  • What is your process for evaluating projects and deciding which ones to boost with the most GIVpower?
  • How are you related with crypto, non-profits, public goods and/or Giveth?

When you create a new topic in GIVpower Delegation, all these questions will be queued up for you. Simply click “Ready to start a new conversation?” and you’re set!

What Next?

Once GIVpower boosting and delegation goes live, you will be notified that it is time to start curating Giveth projects. In the meantime, join our Discord server where we will keep you abreast of important updates.

Thanks for your interest in becoming a GIVpower Delegate!
