DAO Ops Season 6 Proposal

We’re back for Season 6! DAO Ops is committed to facilitating the operational needs of our contributor base and our DAO.

DAO Ops is a multi-faceted team handling critical operations such as:

  • Payroll & Equity Distribution
  • HR Support
  • Onboarding/Offboarding
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Workplace Wellness
  • Treasury Management
  • Praise Rewards
  • Clockify & WG Budget Tracking

This proposal will cover a retrospective of what we accomplished in Season 5 (October 1st - December 31st) and what we have planned for the coming Season 6 (January 1st - April 30th)

Season 5 Retrospective

Deliverables Update

Deliverable Status Notes
Host End of Year Galaxy Trivia games DONE! :white_check_mark: Hosted the annual year-end virtual gathering with around 43 participants.
Active Experimentation with Contributor “Hang-outs” DONE! :white_check_mark: We had monthly social co-working calls for Giveth Galaxy members, one “ MGFA” (Make Giveth Fun Again) event during early December.

Reception of MGFA was good, looking to improve attendance going forward. Activity times were time-boxed very well. We hope to hold more activities at least monthly going into Season 6
Manage Giveth Buddy System SUCCESS! :white_check_mark: The buddy review system around the Giveth Galaxy is continuously being implemented. We were able to facilitate 9 buddy review calls for this quarter.
HR Contributor support DONE! :white_check_mark: Provided day-to-day support for contributors, from onboarding to offboarding, ensuring smooth operations. This included managing document requests, access needs, as well as serving as a communication bridge between teams. We monitored and addressed concerns, and shared important updates to keep everyone informed and aligned, fostering efficiency and productivity.
Leadership Review Internal Retrospective DONE, COULD HAVE GONE BETTER  We did internal retrospective, followed with Feedback collection from the DAO (low success, only 5 responses), after that we created an updated checklist for future rounds.
Create a contributor data base with the “Manual of Me” methodology NEARLY COMPLETE :construction: Almost complete, waiting for 1 contributor to fill out the forms.
Continue Praise Quantification and rewards distribution SUCCESS! :white_check_mark: We were able to catch up with rounds 44, 45, and 46 this season.

We distributed a total of 135,797.33 GIV for the period of July to September 2024.

We continue to distribute monthly praises, with rounds 47 (October) and 48 (November) currently ongoing.

We proposed changes to distribute more GIV per month as rewards by lowering the praise “ceiling” and increasing the rewards given to quantifiers by 400-500%.
Treasury Management BLOCKED :stop_sign: We managed… to spend all of our Treasury . As a result there wasn’t much management happening.

Unfortunately, we had to cash out all of our ETH before the bull run began in earnest. Most inflows of assets (Fundraising wins mostly) have outflowed within 1 month to continue paying contributor salaries and operational costs.
Centralized Accounting, Payroll & Equity Distribution DONE! :white_check_mark: We paid salaries (reimbursing Griff) in GIV tokens starting October.

Since Oct payments, total Giveth monthly salaries decreased by around 20% vs the year’s monthly average

From the 5 contributors who opted to receive full or a portion of their compensation payment in GIV, this is the breakdown:
- 30,276.03 USD in stables
- 28,622.48 USD in GIV tokens (instead of stables)
- 15,224.38 USD in GIV tokens as bonus for opting in
Manage Clockify & Time Reports DONE! :white_check_mark: Accounting crew managed our Clockify reports, calculating PTO, contributor education hours, chapter lead hours and expenses and the works to provide accurate Working Group costs ever month.

They provided relevant report breakdowns every month to WG Leads.
Maintain Voting Systems & Multisig Needs DONE! :white_check_mark: We maintained deploying any new multisigs needed by Working Groups, notably on Polygon zkEVM and Base.

We also managed some changes to our multisig signers:
- Replaced Amin’s signer key
- Swapped Dani for Nikola
- Swapped Willy for Nico
- Swapping* Marko for William (In Progress)

Bonus Deliverables

Secured Giveth Credit Card :credit_card:**.** Recommended Rain Cards during Twitter Space with Glo Dollar and sure enough it worked! Finally after years of trying and failing we have our own company virtual CC (multiple actually) to make our own payments for infra, subs and services. Working with Freshelle, Kay and Algene to make sure no more Giveth costs are coming from Griff’s CC.

Next Steps

This forum post will remain up and open for advice until all other Working Groups Proposals entering this Season have met minimum advice process. After that we will move to a Snapshot vote to decide the priorities of the Giveth DAO for the next 3 months.

When we have the outcome of the Snapshot vote we will meet as DAO Stewards to finalize the scopes of all WGs based on the available Season budget.

Ha ha, as an active DAO Ops member. I’m very biased, but I vote for Grow, it’s only a $1,000 difference from Sustain. So many of are tasks are foundational for operations inside of the DAO.

Nice proposal @mitch! Some thoughts:

  1. Treasury Management - can DAO Ops expand scope of treasury management work to include our other multisigs, or especially, the donation.eth multisig? We have a bunch of funds in there, and generally, we just leave it as-is until we need to swap it for a specific matching pool. But I think it would be a net benefit for everyone if you looked at it once in a while, considering around market turns. cc @yegor

  2. MGFAs & DQS: I think it would be nice if you but the MGFA events that you’re not going to do under “what we won’t do”, so it’s easier to compare the props based on just that one section. Is the MGFA events the primary driver you think behind improving the DQS?

  1. That’s a great idea! There’s definitely an opportunity to manage the matching funds and try to maximize our returns in a RESPONSIBLE manner (no we aren’t buying $TRUMP).

  2. That’s a big driver. MGFA and Praise rewards are what we feel DAO Ops can operate and has the ability to make impact with.
We drew this conclusion by looking last season at common feedback Giveth got through the self-review form responses. Many contributors felt they wanted more opportunities to connect with their peers and have more team-building opportunities.
